Meet Noodles (Indianapolis, IN)

Hand-pulled Noodles in Indy!

I’ve only seen the hypnotic, gluten-forming dance of noodles being stretched by hand once or maybe twice. When I discovered that there was a restaurant serving up hand-pulled La-mian noodles in Indianapolis at Meet Noodles, I knew we had to stop there, even if Mollie and I had the kids in tow on a day trip. While I can’t vouch for these being hand-pulled on-site since there wasn’t a glass window for us to see the kitchen, they were nonetheless delicious! The interior was stylish and modern, the service was very friendly and attentive, and we were impressed by the mix of Chinese and Japanese noodle house choices. Continue reading

Banh Mi Eatery (Lafayette, IN)

Legit Banh Mi Sandwiches Have Arrived!

Forgive me for being a banh mi snob. Greater Lafayette has been lucky to have numerous establishments from Bistro 501 to Black Sparrow offer up their own takes on banh mi sandwiches, each with their own spin to make them their own. Mama Chayo (Lafayette, IN)

Finding Salvadoran Pupusas and Flavors in Lafayette

Salvadoran food is a cuisine that I am not at all familiar with, so it was that much more exciting when my family and I were returning to Lafayette from a road trip and we spotted a newly-painted blue and white along Teal Rd. with signage reading “Mama Chayo Pupuseria Restarante”. The chance to explore a type of food relatively alien to us right at home here in Lafayette was an opportunity we knew we couldn’t pass up, so we committed to giving Mama Chayo a try at the first opportunity. Silver Dipper (West Lafayette, IN)

Behold, the Mini Monster!

For the kids’ birthday, we hit up their favorite local ice cream shop, Silver Dipper, and let them have what they’d been asking for every time since our first visit–The Mini Monster! They sat down to attack one mini-scoop of every flavor available piled high onto one plate.

Their verdict: ???

Their verdict after the ensuing tummy aches: ??? (but don’t worry, we’ll be back!)

Lesson of the day: You can have too much of a good thing!
